HACK THE FUTURE OF JOURNALISM:
Imagining Tools to Improve the Quality of News and Information in a Social Media World
Teams of developers, journalists and innovative thinkers will be challenged to discover new tools, business models, and services that deliver context-rich, real-time social journalism to users across digital platforms. Hackathon participants will be supported by mentors from media, investment and technology communities through workshops, demonstrations and one-on-one conversations.
Saturday, May 31-Sunday, June 1.
KQED | 2601 Mariposa St. | San Francisco
Your ideas have the power to improve the quality of journalism and information provided during breaking news situations, and thus you'll be helping to create a smarter, more informed citizenry. (And, of course, there will be and cash prizes for winning teams, along with free snacks and meals for all participants.)
The event is organized by the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute, the Public Media Platform, and KQED; and is sponsored by Google. Additional support and challenge prize provided by Wayin.
